Hey all,
I am not really big into patches, but I do like challenge coins. My dad gave me one for my 21st birthday. I've kinda been collecting them ever since. I've got quite a few in the last while. But, I'm not interested in the generic ones, only the actual unit specific and office specific coins.
Anyone else collect these??? |

The only one I have is from the US Army's 12th Aviaiton Brigade "Eagle Flight". These were the guys that had two of their Blackhawks shot down by Eagles in 1994 over Iraq during Operation Provide Comfort. Their unit emblem is a Phoenix rising from the ashes. Very appropriate. Anyways, it turned out they were based at the same TuAF air base I was working at so, being the only Americans for a couple of hundred miles, we sorta hung out occasionally. We introduced the local Turks to the concept of the American Barbecue. Whenever they had some down time I'd sneak some of 'em into the F-16 sim to play around and blow off some steam so they gave me the coin and a very nice water color print on my last day there as a goin' away thing. |

Sounds like a good time link!
I have found that very few people have extras lying around. And if they do, they arent really willing to part with them so easy. (especially AD guys, imagine walking into the club, getting coined and telling everyone you gave yours away!!)
anyway, i just like to hear the stories behind your special ones, so please tell, and if you are willing to trade, i might be willing. |

If you ever have a chance to get to Incirlik A.B. and visit off base to the Alley, there's a shop that has made coins galore. When a unit would go there, they would have to shop make up coins for them. I've never seen so many. Unfortunately, I'll probably never have a chance to go there again.

I have a box of extra coins. About half are Turkish and the other are Korean. All types but mostly fighter ones. Email me at
Afsocwes@aol.com
And I will send you a list of what I have available.
