Believe it or not, for a short time the B-47 practiced some of those lofting profiles. Even the Immelman escape (or Half Cuban 8, depending on who ya ask). SAC discontinued it, ostensibly after finding cracks in the wing structures.

I read about that too, though my understanding is that simply flying at low altitude was also causing the airframe to crack (bumpier, denser air and whatnot).
