IIRC it was pushed to the rights as the F-35 that it would communicate with were also pushed to the right. No need to upgrade an F-22 to talk to an F-35 that will not be flying yet. Also, MADL has not finished dev so again, not ready for install yet.
FY2013 budget docs make no mention of MADL for the F-22.
I was unaware MADL had been moved back on the F-35 .. makes sense to put it on the backburner for the Raptor. |

| It was not moved back, per se, on the F-35. The whole F-35 SDD program was restructured so instead of completing in 2013, it now completes in 2016. With this, the time and money being spend to develop/integrate/test MADL was also pushed to the right. |

You'd expect more cooling will be required, but radar output could increase significantly in the near future. |

In terms of radar output, there have been allusions to the range increasing to >250nm. That remains to be seen, but at least it points towards significant upgrades in capability. |

| I read somewhere that Raytheon hasn't delivered new AMRAAMS to the force in something like a year or two because they are having issues with the rocket motor/fuel in some of their newer models. I don't know if this is true? Apparently it has affected the AIM-120D schedule/integration. |

| I wouldn't put it past an inert component left over during production of an ingredient has changed. It happens with consumer products all the time when suppliers refine their products and manufacturers are caught unaware of minor changes. |
