Hello, I'm currently in my second year of university and enlisted in the air guard. My goal is to secure a UPT fighter slot in the coming years. I've just started working on my private certificate and as long as my funds don't dry up I should have my license pretty soon. I feel comfortable flying and I'm very interested in the Aerobatic side of aviation.

My CFI doesn't much about it, so my question is: how does one become a competitive aerobatic pilot from scratch? I would be starting out on my own dime and hopefully working up to regional then international IAC races. Please share your experiences/insight into this sport so I can begin working towards my goals.

Thanks for your time

Find an International Aerobatic Council chapter or instructor (www.iac.org).
Or call them. They are your best resource.
