My confidence in that number actually being fulfilled is already dropping like rock. Let's just hope the level of R&D and testing needing to be done is as low as they say it is.

You would think most of the necessary technologies are already developed so they just have to package them together. With the B-2, F-22 and F-35 much of the cost had to be developing new tech. But then again this is the defence industry Rolling Eyes

Isn't one of the big pros of this bomber program supposed to be that it'll be able to be produced in numbers (since the B-2 has the majority of its projected capability)? This reminds me of the Virginia and Seawolf class subs.

Probably a safe bet would be to divide by 4 or so, and then take 10% off that. Same would probably apply for either the original F-22 requirement and estimated total F-35 procurement as well...
