Does anyone know what the deal was with the in flight emergency yesterday at Hickam involving a F-22? All the emergency vehicles came out and took up stations at intervals down the runway. Two raptors came in together but only one landed. The one landed and shut down on the taxiway, opening the canopy... the other circled before landing on a different runway. Another case of hypoxia?

If this is what you are referring to, then it was a hypoxia incident.. but that was before the AF identified a,faulty valve in the pilots vest as the probable cause of,the problem.. fingers crossed,.

Hawaii Raptor makes emergency landing, hypoxia not a factor

A US Air Force F-22 Raptor assigned the to Hawaii Air National Guard's 199th Fighter Squadron made an emergency landing on 31 July, but the incident is not related to a series "hypoxia-like" incidents that has plagued the Lockheed Martin-built jet.

"Yesterday's IFE [in-flight emergency] was unrelated to the oxygen system," the USAF says. "There was an indication of a possible problem with the front landing gear. The aircraft landed without incident and was being looked at."

The 199th Fighter Squadron and its active-duty associate 19th Fighter Squadron will eventually operate 20 of the fifth-generation stealth fighters. Safety restrictions currently in place regarding how far the F-22 can operate from an airfield has temporarily curtailed delivery of the remaining aircraft to the Hawaii-based unit.

Thanks for the info... good news! Pilot safe and it still looks like they may have eliminated their oxygen issues.

No problem, I happened to be in the right place at the right time. Unfortunatly with the wrong equipment...my lens is entry level and really struggles to focus with moving objects at full reach. What I wish I could have captured was the sound of that second Raptor circling. Totally awesome!
