Now that Israel has secured commitments to allow for Israeli specific EW, comms, weapons, etc for the F-35, which way should they proceed?

I am thinking of a spiral approach but with an ambitious start. As far as Blk3 IOC goes, let it be and don't change a thing.

Set your sights on Blk4/5.

Start with accelerating the UAI developed for pods & EW. While this would take a little longer on the front end, it would allow for greater flexibility in the long run.

As far as hardware goes, start external with the Terma MMP & your gear inside and transition to F-35 internal later.

Question I wonder how long before Israel starts working on a conformal fuel tank to extend the F-35's range further? I also, wonder how much Israel tech crosses over into U.S. hands (or worse how much F-35 tech wanders ala the Israel Lavi)?

I don't understand why Obama would deny the Netanyahu's previous request for brand new F-15Es / SEs, implying that it was an offensive weapon to be used against Iran and not needed for "defense". And to now approve them to buy the even more offensively capable F-35? Perhaps the lead-time to IOC is longer for the F-35, such that the president assumes the Iran issue will be settled by then??? Perhaps he is trying to maintain the current balance of power by giving the Saudis the older F-15 and the Israel the F-35? Or perhaps he just realizes the economy is so bad, we should sell as many of these things as we can?

Given that Turkey is going all batshit-mohamedian-crazy on us, I'd be more worried about where the technology wanders from there, especially since they're building some of the parts.
