When you look at the shape of the tiles, they almost appear identical to some of the tiles on the F-22. Perhaps the Raptor employs this technology? Or at least a more primitive derivative? |

| The main limitation of this kind of system is that it only works for a limited amount of time -- the refrigeration of the exterior isn't very efficient, and it dumps a lot of heat on the inner surface of the tile. For aircraft, it has the further complication of being bulky and relatively heavy. |
