Hello folks,

I'm new to the world of 16s, spent all my time in the Air Force working on the B-52H. Last year I was out near Palmdale when I caught sight of the F-16 in the photos [Link pending approval] I've been really trying to figure out what the history of this particular jet is. Any help would be greatly appreciated, and might end quite a bit of head scratching & speculation on my part.

Of particular interest to me is the heavily modified [Link pending approval] pretty cool, just not sure what the story is for it. Also, there are missing control surfaces on the rear of the wing, but with them gone, it certainly makes the wing look smaller than I remember them being.

USAF F-16C block 25 (#83-1120) modified with a diverterless supersonic inlet, or DSI, developed for the Joint Strike Fighter program.

It has the small early block stabs though and the later vertical fin base.
An odd mix of parts.....

My Two Cents is that's it's a static airframe mock-up for the aforementioned new inlet. Perhaps used for full-scale WT testing. I have, on occasion, been known to be wrong, tho. Wink
