Question for Viper pilots during Desert Storm and Desert Shield. Were you allowed to carry your personal sidearm during armed combat missions during these times?
Also, when I was stationed at Mountain Home AFB, in 2005 or so, several Viper pilots from the 389th said that they were issued Glock 19's bought by their Commander because there were not enough M9's and M11's to go around during Desert Storm and Desert Shield.
Anyone have first hand knowledge of this? |

| Just my 2c, but either the A-10 or F-15E book from DS has a personal acct. from a pilot stating that their local gunshops quickly ran out of 9mm pistols because the pilots were buying them up as well as extra mags. |
