SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. -

South Burlington is saying no to the new F-35 fighter jet.

The Vermont Air Guard is on the short list to host the new jets. The Guard says becoming an F-35 base is critical to preserve Guard jobs in South Burlington.

But the South Burlington City Council voted Monday night to submit a "no" opinion to the Air Force, which is reviewing comments and will make the final decision on where the F-35s actually land.


So the City council voted to tell the USAF that they did not want the F-35. Do you think it will matter in the end?

Same thing as the debate at Eglin. If this community doesn't want them, there are others that do. Take the jobs and move them to where they'll be appreciated.

What USAF officer cares exactly what the South Burlington City Council thinks?? This will almost certainly have no impact. Granted, I'd be happier to see these birds go to Iowa, North Dakota, or Arkansas.

City of South Burlington leadership. Will you support the DEFENDERS OF FREEDOM-VT Air Guard"The Green Mountain Boys" or SOCIALISM? I'ts your choice. In past history the F-4 Phantom flew over your skies it made a LOT of noise. Apparently you're just like NOPE for 2012,Commander In Chief!
