That's a 1970's model Corvette. Seems the tilted radiator deflected the radar back to the ground rather than to the gun. It wasn't perfect and you could still be locked on but at a much shorter distance to the ChiPpy. Gave you that little extra time to slow before lock.
As for the rice burnner boom box's I say blast them, death ray, EMP, whatever just blast them all!  |

I have doubts that a real nuclear EMP can be deflected with a Faraday cage. As I understand it, a Faraday cage is a conductive cover through which electrons are diverted, they distribute themselves through the conductor so as to negate an electric field inside. This is true even if the 'cage' is a real cage, [Link pending approval] full of holes, it's the principle of lots of conductive material greatly distributed around a volume. This is secure against lightning and flashovers, but I think a high atmosphere nuclear driven EMP is a much greater phenomenon; an immense and very brief tidal wave of charge, and I think it will go right through a faraday cage due to its velocity, and damage stuff inside it as well.
Is there any good literature on the subject? |

"Mythbusters" tested some ideas on this very topic. To spoof a CHiP radar and LIDAR emitter, they used a '72 Caddy painted entirely flat black as a test platform and tried:
- Applied some home made RAM paint to the Caddy using iron filings (Radar)
- A spinning disco ball hanging from the rearview mirror (LIDAR)
- Dangling CDs from the rearview mirror (LIDAR)
- A giant roof-mounted spinning squirrel cage lined with mirrors. (LIDAR)
- A home made chaff dispenser that shot strips of Reynolds Wrap vertically out the removed rear window. (Radar)
- Covering the entire car in Reynolds Wrap. (Radar)
- Covering the entire car with LEDs (LIDAR)
- Some kinda LED array wrapped around the front license plate. (LIDAR)
- Jingling a set of keys at the shooter (Radar)
Nothin' worked....  |

None of the Mythbuster's attempts were actually RAM though?
Looks like they were trying to confuse the receiver versus trying to hide the car's return.
What they needed was a roof-mounted ALQ-131! 
Be sure the CHiP is wearing his lead lined boxers.

Well they aren't exactly experts on signature reduction, that much is certain. But I'd give 'em a solid "A" for effort for trying to scatter the return.
They were merely testing urban myths about how to keep from getting a speeding ticket. And most of 'em turned out to be just that. Myths. It was fun watchin' 'em try tho. 
(...and Kari Byron is pretty easy on the eyes to boot....  ) |

I believe there's more to it than just magnetic paint, but it's still not too shabby. I would also have to wholeheartedly agree on the last part  |

| The Corvette seems doomed to me as a radar stealthy subject. Since the major exterior panels are all radar transparent (fiberglass), the speed gun gets to point right at all the major interior steel drive-train and suspension of the car. It won't matter what you do with your radiator, there is steel everywhere to reflect back to The Law. |
