What a beautiful scene yesterday. Usually I just see my Block 30 ANG neighbors. Preceding the ANG Fighting Falcons on the taxiway were a UAE Block 60 E and F model. An F-16 international alliance in action against Global Terrorism. |

Actually bandit66. I just returned from the Northline DFAC to get some take away chow. Low and behold I spoke to a UAE Air Force F-16 driver. They are here in the flesh.

The Emirates accomplish a mission here with the Blackhawk,Apache and a Twin Otter. Also seen their C-130 and the C-17. They have new Toyota buses, Land Cruisers and trucks compared to Afghani vehciles rented by Americans. They have a welll built block/concrete dining, dwelling, mosque facilities with concrete entryway as only oil money would provide. I was invited in the dining facility. UAE cable TV,hubbly bubbly, big couches, arabic food and a Canada Dry cream soda only found in their compound on base.

I hope to meet some of the UAEAF maintainers in upcoming days. They have shade from the sun on the ramp whereas the USA Falcons sit ouside. Emirates always pampered. In Shalah. May have pictures in the future.

I crewed a UAE bird in Tucson. Sure miss those aircraft, but not those conformal tanks, which had to come off for just about any type of maintenance.
Be nice to see a photo of them doing what F-16s are supposed to do.
I have a video of an afterburner run taken a few years ago.

UAE Air Force must love those Conformal tanks. They're flying with them and 370 tanks. I remember dealing with the Conformal tanks for the 30 Day Gun or going into or out of Phase at Al Dhafra Air Base 2008-2009. They're not too bad once you get use to them.

2 seaters or single seaters? If they have AH-64's in theatre then I would also assume their vipers are taking a more "proactive" role. Nice time to get some real world experience as well?
