| Ok... what if the allies had access to A-10s in ww2. I think we would all agree that it would have been devestating in a2g but how would it have faired in a2a? No missiles, guns only. |

It would be the A-10's battle to lose.
It is faster, better armed/armored, flies higher, has better sensors, and has a computer to predict lead. |

One-on-one, it's not even close. The Me-262 is probably the only thing that can out-run it, and it's cannon could shred anything that moves.
However, if you are talking about impact, you have to consider logistical matters, and the support structure for the A-10 didn't even exist back then. |

The A-10 isn't terribly fast as far as fighters go in late WWII, but it would be pretty hard to kill from the front. In a gun fight those exposed engines would be a liability, however.
The gun would be absurd overkill considering one HE 30mm round would destroy pretty much any fighter. |

Do you mean "isn't terribly fast" as in "not that much faster than everything else", because even the P-51 is slower. |
