To all of the anti-F-22 Fanboys who chose not to believe the exchange pilot who said he couldn't put a weapon an F-22 even when saw it through the canopy, read the link above.

In short it says when the F-22 is defensive the other guy has a fleeting chance at a shot with a 9X. That's it.

Sounds like the pro-F-22 crowd was right again.

Well, this proves one thing. If you see an F-22 at any time, you're screwed.

There is a sure fire way to down Raptors.

Convince Congress and the US Public in general that they're $200+Million each; and that the 'next' aircraft will only be $50M/each.

Killed every Raptor past #187...

Ordinarily I would say to elect a liberal east coast democrat to the White House. But in the case of the -22, it was killed by a southern republican who spent more on new weapons procurement than anyone else in recent history (maybe RR spent a little more per capita).

We no longer live in a world where the bad guys are
LITERALLY hiding behind a concrete wall. The most probable air wars in the forseeable future are Iran, and N Korea. Otherwise, the combined air forces of the US are going to be limited to dropping bombs on insurgents, and patrolling certain regions in the Pacific Rim to maintain a presence of a threat.

I'd gladly trade 220 -35s for another 115 -22s to hold us over until gen 6 becomes viable. But that's just a day dream...

I loved that Flight Global post. Raptors simply have no competition. Although I can't wait until the Indians bring the FGFA to Red Flag in the next decade. ^^

Why would an officer of an AF that uses the certain type, explain how to shoot that same type down?

It's not as if the information that he put out is going to allow one a better chance. He basically said that if you were lucky enough to into position, and had the JHMCS/-9X, you might be able to get off a shot. Hardly giving away any tactical advice there.

But how do the Russians or Chinese shoot down the F22, then?
They don't have JHMCS and Aim9X, although I heard lucky horseshoes have been issued fleetwide in China, f.e. ^^

Well if they survive the merge, and get into a similar position that the pilot referred to, and they have a helmet sight/HOBS missile, then they might get a lucky shot too.

Even still, they'd die in droves just to try and GET that chance to begin with. It's still 30:1. You're going to need to throw a lot of planes back to the taxpayers and a lot of meat into the grinder just to kill one F-22 so in the end, there's still nothing to worry about. US air dominance is still maintained.

Well if they (Chinese) survive the merge, it means the other guys (F22s) didn't and I'm kinda puzzled how is that possible since Chinese don't have JHMCS+Aim9X (which is the only thing that can kill F22)?

Do Chinese pilot actually receive two horseshoes per plane instead of reported, one, or US secretly sold JHMCS+Aim9X to Chinese?

Maybe they can use the lucky horseshoes as weapons. Close counts in horseshoes (& nukes). Mr. Green

That is the beauty of the F-22, this 30:1 kill ratio is in the merge. It is reported that the Raptor can be just as lethal from beyond visual range, acting as an AWACS. Guiding forward assets to targets and being able to engage and disengage at will.

And that's without the HMS and AIM-9X. Imagine how much more lethal the Raptor would be with helmet cuing and a HOBS missile. Might be something more like 60:1 .

Better to have MLD upgrades for EODAS A2A functionality than to have HMS.
