We had an argument at work today about some of the best F-16 maintainers people know. (Avi,Crew Chiefs and Electricians) The best I know of from each all named someone they knew back in the day, mostly their mentors. Who are the best current F-16 maintainers now? Not meant to start a debate but there are several names I have heard for each shop several times.

Don't weapons guys count as "maintainers?" Sad

It sure felt like we bore a share of the burden.

You know Loader2088. You're right. They should count. Joe Sambor who would be your vote from VTANG-GREEN MOUNTAIN BOYS for Weapons?

Thanks GooseGoose. That being the case I nominate the SCANG competition load crew from McEntire JNGB that won the load crew competition at the 2009 Falcon Air Meet in Jordan. Mike Irick, Robert Harrison, and Fred Knox. You had to see this load to believe it.

I'll second this one! I only worked with him at a Supervisory level for a year and a half before I retired I was always amazed at Nubby's knowledge of the F-16 airframe. A very well rounded and sharp team player it was a true pleasure to work with him.

Unfortunately, I don't know any of the Weapons guys up there. Like many others, I could rattle off a list, but they are all gone now.

Wish I had more contact with USAF maintainers, but that's just not in the cards right now.

Best Regards,

I always hate these types of posts. My vote for THE best maintainer is the guy that eventually fixes whatever jet is eating my lunch on any given day.

Loader 2088. If you are at the Swampfoxes. Do you know my former VTANG, Flight Chief MSgt Labounty? He's sitting alert at Mcentire now. He's an honorable mention for Crew Chief maintainer.TSgt White was also a former VTANG alert coworker at McEntire alert. He did Alert at BTV-Burlington Int'l Airport,VT back in the late 80s to early 90s in Civil Service Technician when the Russian bombers where running the East Coast to Cuba and back. I got a picture of a VTANG Block 15 alongside the bomber. They had scrambled out of Bangor,ME to intercept.
