The FTIT indicator was pronounced EFF-TIT.
Afterburner was sometimes called the Blower. As in "I hadda go full blower comin' off the tanker just to make my TOT"
I think some are starting to call the CFTs "Shoulder Pads", but don't quote me. |

Hi all;
This is me, weapons. Having worked ALL Blocks of the F-16 (yes, black nose to Blk-52) I got to know the grey one pretty well. Remember "doughnut, bathtub, dogbone ,and coke bottle?
- Doughnut: the round panel that cover the afterburner.
- Bathtub: the panel that cover two bottles in the engine bay (start one and two)
- Dogbone: engine thrust mount
- Coke bottle: hold the engine in the jet.
Oh and one last thing 90-467 looks good in Agressor colors. I accepted that jet along with 90-470 also a D-Hog |

The 'Coke Bottles' are actually the 'thrust mounts' for the engine; they are the points at which the thrust of the engine is transmitted to the structure of the airframe.
The 'Dogbone is a 'sway link' that keeps the engine from moving too far left/right on the thrust mounts, it has two bearings in it (making it look like a bone), and accommodates the radial expansion of the engine in a tangential manner. The bearings allow it to pivot at both the engine and the airframe.
The 'Skate Mount' is the engine's forward mount that runs in a track and has four bearings that allow the motor to slide into the engine bay, and also allows for the axial growth in the engine from the thrust pins forward.
The 'Bath-tub' is actually aft of the hydraulic accumulators. There is only engine inside this panel, it is removed to allow proper clearance for the engine's accessories when removing/installing the motor. (The doughnut panel is only a few inches larger than the nozzle support)
The 'Doughnut' is a fairing that interfaces between the aft-most structure of the aircraft and the nozzle support of the engine. It only covers a small portion of the augmentor duct and nozzle module, mainly the nozzle support assembly.
It's okay for a 'weapons guy' to be slightly off when quoting engine guy slang; but pretty good...
