Wouldn't be the last ones, with all the hassle the F-35 receive these days
If, the choice is between the Viper and the Lightning. I very much doubt you would fine many that would take the former. Which, is no disrespect to the F-16. |

Now only if Obama would allow the sale of 66 F-16's to Taiwan!
Funny, just like the Oil Pipeline Deal with Canada. I think our dear President doesn't want to create American Jobs.
Unless they're Government Jobs paid by the US Taxpayer! |

| All I can say to my British friends in Thumrait is HA! You cannot image the grief my team took from the Brits over the Eurofighter vs. F-16 thing. I am happy the Omani made this decision. It will be good for them to have a bigger program, instead of learning a whole new weapon system. The lobbying was pretty fierce though. |

Dear Leader Obama...anyone like the sound of that??
And agreed. It's painfully obvious he is afraid to do the right thing. His handling of the RQ-170 hack-down was embarrassing at best, and his administration seems to like killing private-sector jobs.
Anyways, kudos to Oman for choosing Vipers over the Eurofailure. If we were to assume their use in a future regional conflict, A2G would obviously be a part of this, and the EF doesn't seem to have much in the way of munitions commonality with the Viper. |

You may be able to save some keystrokes and drop the 'southern' off of your log-in.
I think the 'southern' part is readily apparent.

Iraq has placed an order for 18+18 F16IQs, now Oman jumps on the band wagon with 12F-16s, and now a likely deal for 18more F-16C/D Block-52s For Pakistan Air Force, and a few other pending orders and proposed new sales, will keep the line running well through 2016/2017. With the Global economic Meltdown, and the change in over all geopolitical scenario, and countries looking to replace their ageing fighter Fleets, the best suited choice is The Viper, as the new available 5th Gen tech is either barred to some countries or as we know is limited to only participating nations or a few outsiders as well, it will be safe to say that JSF-35 will be made available to countries serving U.S interests. F-16 is the best force Multiplier and a perfect diplomatic tool to keep relations with the countries of the world in check.
The amount of Money spent in the entire development program to date on the F-35, and later on for LRIP production and a predictable uncertain future for this over-hyped jet, F-22 fleet size could have been increased to some where between 300-350, and a few hundred f-16s be bought for USAF/USANG, to maintain their supremacy over the skies of the world, as envisaged by the United States of America. I dont understand why the sitting government killed the F-22 and then are trying to do the same to the F-16, knowing the problems with the JSF Program.
God Save the Viper, and thousands of Jobs associated with this ,...most successful aviation program in the world. |
