Hi guys. If there are Thai members on this forum or anyone who knows the Thai language. Would it be possible to translate these two bits of text:

http://www.wing1.rtaf.mi.th/wing1/102his.html
http://www.wing1.rtaf.mi.th/wing1/103his.html

Greets,

Both pages showed history of wing 102 & wing 103. They also listed name of each wing commander and showed timelines of aircraft operation since the beginning. Let me know if you need deeper translation.

Yes Frente, I'm very interested in the detailed translation. Especially when the squadron was activated and with which aircraft it was equiped in which timeframe.

Greets,

The webpage of Wing 102 didn't provide useful information regarding its time frames. Anyway, here you go..

http://www.wing1.rtaf.mi.th/wing1/102his.html
Squadron 102, previously called Squadron 2, was established along with Wing 1 in 1936 (2479). The Sqdn later changed its name to Squadron 12 in 1953 (2496).

On October 1, 1977 (2520), the Royal Thai Air Force reorganized the structure of its inventory which resulted in moving the squadron to Korat airbase in NakornRachsima province. The name was also changed to Squadron 102.

On June 14, 1978 (2521), RTAF purchased Kh/K 18 aircrafts and assigned them to Squadron 102.

Let me know if you need anything else.
http://www.wing1.rtaf.mi.th/wing1/103his.html

Squadron 103, previously called Squadron 3, separated from RTAF flight training school in 1938 (2481). In the same year, the squadron was based at the east part of Donmeung airport for a short period and was moved again to the west part of the airport.

In 1950 (2493), the Sqdn 3 operated B. Kh. 14 Spitfire and B.Kh. 15 Bearcat. In 1951 (2494), the Sqdn reassigned its name to Sqdn 13 and operated 26 B.Kh. 15 and 3 B.F. 8.

In 1956 (2499), the squadron operated B.Kh. 16 after transferring B.Kh. 15 to Wing 4
In 1961 (2504), the squadron operated B.Kh. 17 after transferring B.Kh. 16 to Wing 4
In 1963 (2506), the squadron operated B.Kh. 17G after transferring B.Kh. 17 to Wing 4
In 1966 (2509), the squadron operated B.Kh. 18/G after decommissioned all B.Kh. 17G

On May 24, 1976 (2519), the Sqdn 13 was moved from Donmeung airport to Korat Airbase (current location). The Sqdn later changed its name to Sqdn 103.
On May 15, 1991 (2534), Sqdn 103 operated 18 F-16s (B. Kh. 19/G). Wing commander Itthaporn Subhawong was serving as the first commander of the F-16 fleets at that time (he is now the Air Chief Marshal of Royal Thai Air Force). The Sqdn later received 7 additional F-16s from Singapore on December 1, 2004.

See http://www.thai-aviation.net/files/Air_ ... ummary.pdf for descriptions of aircraft abbreviations (such as B.Kh., B.F.) noted above.

Thanks for this info already. It contained some updates on the info I already had. I contacted the RTAF museum whether they are able to get us some more info on these squadrons. The info we mostly need is the pre-1950 history. I'm hoping they will respond to my e-mail and are able to help us out. Thailand is one of the last countries' which we need the info to write the unit histories.

Greets,

Not sure you saw their unofficial webpage, http://www.103sqdn.net/history_en.asp
Looks like it contains more history than the first two links above.

While you're at it, maybe you'll help find a photo of this lone wolf? 8D

As comrade Bjorn knew, I'm already having... tons of fun with looking for KF-16s. 8(
