| The F-22 has better reliability and build quality while the Su-35 is probably easier to repair. |

According to Wiki Russian Air Force has 11.
Another stupid thread. Russia has yet to produce anything that matches the F-22 in anything. |

This thread was posted as a question of reliability and build quality not combat comparison. While I do love the raptor and am a fan of the sukhoi. I give the sukhoi a plus for rough field capabilities due to the intake doors that seal the engines off when taxiing. But in combat the raptor sees all and kills all before the enemy can see the F-22. |

The Raptor doesn't need "rough field capabilities" because the Raptor doesn't operate out of Soviet-era military airfields. Perhaps if Russia got their sh*t together and fixed their crumbling infrastructure, the international community would actually take their flying Lada's seriously.
BTW, I would research the differences between Western and Russian fighter jet engines. The reliability and overhaul time between the two will surprise you. I have yet to see a reliable anything come from Russia lately. |

My point was that this is a silly comparison better suited for YouTube. It annoys me because for the next week or so I'll keep seeing that the F-22 topic has been bumped, only to find that it's just fanboys cussing each other out on this bull$hit thread. |

I see where your going and I laugh at comments like that. In my honest opinion both jets are great in their own ways. And from the research I've done and asking you guys. My curiosity was correct. That the F-22 is a Reliable aircraft. The only down fall is the maintenance of the stealth skin. But other them that you have quite a solid bird. And I am new to this forum and pretty much the forum type websites. So sorry for stepping on any toes here. |

Already did the research. Russian engines seem to be simpler to maintain then their American counterparts but the american engines strike a chord with me because of their power and reliability. Plus the export models of Russian planes are downgraded or poorly maintained from what I've heard and read. And I mention rough field abilities because I think it is possible for a sukhoi to set down in a grass or dirt field incase of emergency. I love both aircraft as well and I wasn't trying to step on any toes here. |

Russian engines are simpler to maintain because they are disposable |

so basically what you mean is that Russian engines are disposed of while American engines are maintained and put back on the planes correct? If so then that's amazing in terms of quality |

| That is basically correct. The lifespan of a US jet engine is measured in multiples of what a Russian jet lifespan is. |

Yeah they normally last anywhere from a quarter to a third of the time that US and European engines do which blows the old 'Russian kit is super reliable' myth out of the water.
I thought they actually had just 3 or 4 Su-35's anyway and not 11 as stated in this thread. Or was it actually 1 Su-35 and three prototypes...?? Either way it must be highly embarrassing when coupled with the Su-34 producton fiasco and it certainly doesn't bode well for any future PAK-FA force. Infact you could pretty much write them (Russia) off as a threat right now if it weren't for their ICBM's, China is where the real danger is in this era.
And Raptor would eat the Su-35 alive, Russia knows this fully well hence their desperate third attempt at building a 5th gen fighter to counter the F-22. |
