I dont think the US will be paying for the new F-16's.. neither did it pay for the last ones.
At least not directly.
That is correct.
The US did not pay for the last batch of 18 - nor are they going to pay for this one.
In fact, all Pakistani F-16's have been Paid for by Pakistan - including the saga of the embargoed ones in the 1990's - where neither the money was returned nor the F-16's released at that time for a considerable number of years. |

The US and Pakistan settled this long time ago, as advised here:
"At the end of 1998, the United States announced it would pay Pakistan $326.9 million in cash and up to $140 million in other compensation to settle the eight-year dispute."

Yes - I do know the issue was resolved. I said it was an issue for a considerable number of years - not that it is unresolved. |

| We've given Pakistan billions of dollars in aid. How can we say the US did not pay for these F-16s with certainty? |

The same can be said for other countries also aided by the US with aid packages. No one can be sure if some or large portions of that money is plowed back into US economy. |

Given the current state of US Government finances, this seems a little absurd. It's time we cut off ALL foreign aid. I don't care if it is to Israel, Pakistan or any other country. It needs to stop for a number of years until we can get REAL leadership in DC that is capable of doing the right thing. |
