F-16 Type Tag

Always wondered why the F-16 has a tailhook, or how big a bigmouth F-16's mouth really is ? Find it out here !

Hello forummers @ F-16.net,

The reason I came here is because I've got an F-16 related question. I am looking for a picture of a F-16 Type Tag. One of those little ?metal? plates in a F-16 with letters and numbers punched in it. (Serial number, etc.)

The reason I'm asking this, is because one of my friend's dad thinks he owns one, but he's not sure. The poor man is old and demented but has always had a passion for F-16's. He does not remember how he got it, but I would like to match it with a picture. I've been looking on the internet for ages but couldn't find anything.

I'm not going to post a picture of it, we don't think that's a smart idea. (Is it illegal to have such thing?)

Kind regards,

Jannes

Hello Bjorn,

Thank you for your reply, that's not what it looks like so it must be something else. It's hard to read what's on the tag, but it sure has a line saying 'Serial No', or something in that direction. Could it be a tag of a part that's in an F-16?

Thanks once again,

Jannes

What's the part number?
There should also be a "CAGE" number, what is it?

Hello TEG,

Thank you for your reply! Unfortunately I can not find anything on the tag saying 'CAGE'. Part of it seems to be flattened out making it impossible to know what numbers and letters were punched there.

Aircraft F 16
*** ASSY **W***-80*
***** F*****-*******
SERIAL NO HO**-*-****
CO*R (Then next to that is a oval with something punched in it)
Next to that there's a box with the letters CUS* and under that INSH
Under that is a line:
MODIFICA and the rest is blurred.

Hope this helps a bit, sorry for the loads of asterisks but those parts I was not abled to read...

Thanks in advance,

Jannes

The two asterisks in front of the W are probably 16. 16Wxxx-80x is probably a part number associated with a wing component. Based on your description of the damage to it, maybe it's a data tag someone picked up at a crash site. It wouldn't have any monetary value and I doubt if anyone cares that someone has it.

Just post a picture of it so we can identify it.
