Had a similiar issue on a sta 7-was shorting out to 7A
Also, most people only check for continunity, not shorting to the other pins. If the center and shield are shorting- you will have cont and no video.
By the way- when you changed the fwd switch-it prob took spec an entire day pulling everything known to man outa the avionics [Link pending approval] bastards

[quote="nam11b"]I have to disagree, I have never had the TDR solve a problem for me. On fiber on the other hand, the new OTDR are suprisingly accurate.

A TDR is just like any other tool. It has its purpose. And you need to know how to use it.

With any radio problems. You can hook up the TDR and know where the break in the RF cable is at in about a minute.

I used to shoot wires many moons ago with a TDR...used correctly, it is a fine tool in your toolbox.

Use the SST for that station, it will show you the video readings or lack thereof at the end of the A/G station test. Your AFETS rep @ Osan knows this as well.
The SST manipulates and exercises all 3 switches depending on the station being run and checks the entire wiring from station to cockpit. The field has been taught how to "break into" the WWP or A/G interface check and check video without having to go through the entire checkout of either a WWP or an A/G interface check since they can get quite lengthy.
I have worked a lot of video issues in my time on the line and have only changed 3-4 switches that actually fixed the video problem. Sure we have all THROWN a switch at an A/C to try and get it to land Code 1, but they always came back with the same problem.
95% of the time we ended up piggy-backing a video line from the station in through the wing root wafer stack in through the B-system reservoir bay to the switch harness itself. (Same type scenario on the right side of the A/C but you end up in the Rt MLG bay above the battery)
