Based on the popularity of my last video (jeez, I'm practically selling it when shown in person), I've decided to spend a lot more time on another video, and this time it's double the length and I'll be doing progress previews since I do them in a linear fashion...

So here's the first one... it's the first 35 seconds and oh, man... it blows ME away too!!
edit: http://falconsys.net/f16/f16-3rd-net-256kbps.wmv
5.2 MB, about 3 minutes on broadband.

I'm now doing this not for the popularity - that was a joke on the 2nd vid Wink - but to set an example for some media
Comments? Suggestions?

edit (after almost a year with this flamingly huge 404 error on that link)... link updated! Embarassed

As promised, here's what I did yesterday (now 1:32 long):
http://www.falconsys.net/f16/f16-3rd-pre2-450kbps.mpeg

Like most productions, parts of the first section were polished up as well, so that's why I threw in the first part here too...

The whole thing should be done by Monday! Very Happy

Meh, I really liked the lyrics and sound effects in this song as I was listening to it one night, so I thought "Well, there's my next video!". If you can find the same thing in another song (not a love song, not a suicide song, etc... think like "fighting" or "rebellious", that kind of thing), let me know and I'll put another one together - but I'm also running out of video clips! falcon_combat.avi (from Iron Eagle) is running on Empty, and I use the standard-issue set of clips in every video I've done! (that is, the "F-16 promo", the "bomb dropping", the "3 in formation breaking away", "takeoff with full afterburner", etc.)

Anyone got more clips to use?

Well, here ya go, I found a great place to stop... the song isn't over at this point but it sounds like a nice place to call it a day.

So, for a few days, I'll let it rest, maybe work on another song (anyone? Another song to use?)... then I'll finish it up. It's now about halfway through the song.

But it's complete enough to call it a production copy.
Low bandwidth (streamable):
Stream on PC (or Mac with WMP 8+) (RECOMMENDED!):
http://www.falconsys.net/f16/f16-3rd-net-256kbps.wmv
Stream on Mac (because some PCs have the WiMP MPG bug but Macs don't):
http://www.falconsys.net/f16/f16-3rd-net-256kbps.mpg
Download for PC or Mac (flawless, original audio with original video) (18mb):
http://www.falconsys.net/f16/f16-3rd-net-1mbps.mpg

Have fun! And tell me how you like it, too.

Remember to tell me what song you want next!!

Great F-16 video. I only wish you could finish it sooner.

P.S. At least I can now stand listening to this song.

Hey in the beginning it says number 3, the previous one said number 2, but where can I find number 1?

Well, the first one was rather bad, almost like an 8-year-old's scribbles, but it was my first experiment in Adobe Premiere - I didn't even know about compiling the workspace's preview. The best effects (Cross fading! Wow!) used in this video were actually part of the original video clips. I was basically flying blind... kinda like sticking a Cessna pilot in an F-16 Smile

So that's why I didn't post the first one - but I guess I could. I'll probably recycle that song for another movie, since its lyrics are so touching on the F-16 (Creed - Freedom Fighter).

If you insist... here's the first video. Note that at the end, I didn't even notice that after resizing the video, it didn't resize the text and hence, caused the text "A tribute to all F-16 pilots and enthusiasts" to be cut off and probably even misspelled. Gotta love Premiere 6.0 (using 6.5 now but it still needs a can of Raid for all the bugs)!

http://www.falconsys.net/f16/f16-1st-net-250kbps.mpg
(you can browse http://www.falconsys.net/f16 for everything current and past, all media I post on F-16.net is in this folder)

My most noticable goof in this video was where there's this black-and-white clip of one taking off - my computer had crashed earlier and lost the changes and when I went to reconstruct it, I didn't resize that certian clip on the timeline, so I accidentally finished the whole video working around that obnoxiously lengthy clip. Kinda throws off the whole mood.

Of course, this is before I knew about chroma key transparency (amongst other methods), frame blending, HSB color correction, opacity controls, and even high-quality resizing (which explains the horrible quality of the video)! I haven't even started work on Adobe After Effects yet! Very Happy
