F-35 is NOT capable of super cruise, F-22 is. |

F-35 is NOT capable of super cruise, F-22 is.
I think the more accurate statement would be- the F-35 is NOT capable of cruising at M1.5 or greater. If we stick with this threshold as the definition. It gets a little more problematic making that claim, if M1 is the threshold. |

If the F-15SE is THAT advanced, would there really be a distinction between countries allowed to buy it or the F-35?
The latest F-15s exported(which aren't as advanced as what is being suggested) are ~$100m. If you start putting all of the equipment(or even more expensive) than what the F-35 has, you'll rapidly approach F-22 prices, in a non-VLO airframe.
Please provide a source for an F-15SG unit weapon system cost.
And no, we don't need to order the actual LW IRST pod, the next-gen Litening SE or Sniper SE pod, nor future elta/rafael SoJ/EA jamming pod currently under development for each F-15E+/SE airframe bought.
But we must compare an FY14 'PUC cost' buy at a 20-25 F-15E++ vs 20-25 unit F-35A order size in order to make a more relevant and honest comparison. That's all, no bashing. These are the cold facts, imho. God speed. Respects. |

I'm not sure what the F-15SG costs, but the F-15K cost ~$100m in 2006(and this was for more than 25). |

The F-15K cost $82m in 2006.... 85m now. |

131st, bro, welcome
Can you please provide a link to that cost? Was that the Total flyaway cost? The Gross unit cost including initial spare parts??
For whatever it's worth, when I discuss anything cost related.. I try to keep it apples to apples in comparison. I.e., a weapon system vs weapon system cost comparison, or a Total flyaway cost comparison, or gross unit cost, etc...
Seriously, if USAF could get an FY15 F-15SE Gross Unit Cost (including initial spares) for about $150m (including the 9" IRST and EW suite), it should be an urgent topic of strategic discussion among US Congress when taking into account the still-in-denial realities of the stay the course F-35A plan.
God speed USAF Tacair recapitalization. |
