| After reading Skunk Works by Ben Rich, it got me wondering if there was a similar book about the F-16, specifically about the troubles (if any) during development and the project's history. |

(Primarily about the F/A-18, but has a bit about the LWF competition of YF-16 vs YF-17.
Read it when it first came out: back then, I played a lot of flight sims, and read a lot of non-fiction books about air wars and fighters, from WWII to modern.
Actually, read it after I read the author's other book about the M1 Abrams MBT programme.) |

| Cool thanks again, the only other airplane books I have read were those "backpocket" Janes books that were more facts/specs than anything as a kid. |

Haven't posted in quite a while. Guess you could say I'm back after an extended vaca. good to be back.
Working for a magazine I get to see some things a little early so I thought I'd pass this along. There's a great new book coming out in October by a great guy and Viper driver called ... <a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0062130358/threefournineA">Viper Pilot, A Memoir of Air Combat</a> by One of America's Deadliest F-16 Aviators. (Talk about someone with self confidence!)
Lt. Col. Dan Hampton has just under 4K hours, 4DFCs and 151 combat missions. he book is a great read and to prove it I'd invite everyone to check it out! Aviation History magazine got the exclusive rights to run an excerpt from the book and we have it online http://www.historynet.com/angel-of-death.htm

The hardcopy arrived yesterday, I started reading at 5PM, at midnight took a couple hours for a nap, finished it this morning. Read every page. I plan on rereading it several more times. Incredible detail, and written like the pilot is sitting there telling you the whole story. This one goes on the shelf next to Thud Ridge.
I think the enhanced ebook will be my Christmas present.
