Hello, I have just joined the community,

My name is Chris, and am a talented person, in many aspects, from drawing, to modelbuilding, to linguistics, to about anything I have ever started, (but not necessarily finished Razz

) Being bilingual, with German and English, and ongoing with attempting to teach myself Japanese.

So here is my first post, I recently, as of December 11th, .10, continued on a Model kit Of a f-16A fighting falcon, in scale 1:72, from revell, which is revells edition to the anniversary of multiple fighter sqn, with the symbols of diana, the spitfire painting on the plane, and "the redskins". I had worked in the summer on some of the plane, mostly painting, and the cockpit, which, this is the second build of the same kit I have done, which ended in reference on what to do better the next time. I did the cockpit instruments, or painted them, and the pilot, and that with extreme detail, for 1:72, and modified some of the stuff, like adding some yellow piece to the side of the seat, but I just remembered I wanted to use thin copper to represent many little hoses, and Its put together, as of landing gear, and the whole aircraft, with some details missing.
But, wanting to achieve more realism, I started to ask what this and that was for, etc, such as the "bird slicers" which is a unused piece that comes with this kit, and some other unused pieces, only one other piece I know of where I could have put it, But don't know of its meaning.
Also questions arose, What is the color of this and that, etc. ^^ so here it goes.

1 common air vent, or simillar I guess, but in image 2 the air vent is different, can someone tell me what the one is on the second image,
2,3,4,5,and 6, can someone explain why they protrude, are surrounded by a orange border, etc,
7. this feature is on my model, though what is it, and I have seen images, it wasn't there, or maybe just not colored black,
8, the antenna things on all the wings, and the IFF "bird slicers" and also Did the f16 A ever equipped with golden tinted, yellow tinted canopy?

1: ECS (Environmental Control System) exhaust vents. The ECS systems on the A/Bs (bottom photo) and the C/Ds (top photo) probably have different load demands and therefore may have differing exhaust vent designs but they perform the same function.

2: A pair of radio antennas known at "The Buck Teeth". I think these were the lower TACAN antennas.

3 & 4: The Jet Fuel Starter (JFS) inlet and exhaust doors (3 is the exhaust). They're highlighted because they're considered a danger zone when opened, which means the JFS is running.

5: The turbine core rotational plane indicator. A reference to let you know where the core is. An engine troop could tell you why you'd want to know where it is. (paging Dr. TEG...)

6 & 7: Chaff and Flare dispensers (a duplicate set is on the opposite side)

8a: The "antenna things" are static charge dissipators. Discharges static electricity build up.

8b: The only US A/Bs with bird slicers were the ADF models, one set forward f the canopy and one set below the intake. The MLU program added low-profile versions to the European jets and only put them forward of the canopy. All A/Bs that get the MLU mod get retrofitted with these.

No operational A/Bs I know of had the gold canopy but there may have been test jets that had them.

USAF F-16A/B starting with 81-788 had gold canopies.

1: the ECS exhaust on the second image is the old style version. The block 10 were delivered with uncovered exhaust, but later modified with the now common duct. In fact the J-367 was never fitted with the old style exhaust.

2. These are called the "buck teeth" but is not the lower TACAN antenna. It is the C/D band antenna for the RWR system. The lower TACAN antenna is flush mounted behind the C/D band antenna.
