It'll be nice if you can complete this model. Working TVC on such a model would be really interesting to see.

Awesome. Will the TV be 'slam', that is, straight back or servo slams it into tv or will it be adjustable thru the vector? While it will be a nifty feature, do you anticipate flight envelope departure since the r/c won't have a computer controlling and trimming it like the real thing? I'd hate to see you kick in the tv and then *whoops tumble, tumble, tumble Shocked

[quote="vegasdave901"]Awesome. Will the TV be Actually, proportional operation will be the easy part of the thrust vector system. Dual rate and and other programming options on today's computerized radios make that easy. What will be a bit harder is the 3 point articulation of the nozzle box itself to emulate the nozzle petal movements from start up to shutdown.

Wow. 1/6th scale. Can't wait to see the finished product.

Fantastic ingenuity/creativity. I only wish I had the time...

You say on your website that the Aerofax F-22 book is better and newer than my F-22 book. Please remember that in 1999 (when published) there was little info available. Moreover, McGraw-Hill ruined it with crummy paper, etc. -Steve Pace

I thought it was a great reference. The Aerofax book, being newer and thus having the benefit of more info and pics available was a bit more beneficial for those seeking to model the Raptor. My recommendation was to get both of them. My apologies If it seemed I was shorting the book. It was definitely not my intention.

How's the project going?

I have tried my hand at constructing a few F-22 foamy models myself but nothing near this complex. I was curious how you were planning on powering this model? Extremely large EDF's (500mm?!) or hobby turbojets?

Good luck on your foamies. this bird's shape looks good no matter how they are made. In this case the project is slated for twin turbines, the hold up so far has been working up a scale thrust vectoring system. It is slowly coming along though.

Where did you find these drawings of the bulkheads? I've been trying to make a larger scale F-22 with balsa but I couldn't find any decent cutaway resources.

You start with a 3d model, then use a cad program to extract cross sections from it. If you cant model one, there are some decent ones available from 3rd party companies, though the good ones are very pricey. turbosquid might be a good place to start.
