Specialist motto "Gimme the tires and get the F*** off my jet!" and "Without weapons, specs would do it."

I should show this to Dad today and see if he knows of a comparable version for the mid/late 40s to 50/51 for his ilk. Laughing

That's total horse sh*t. Every shop does that. Not just crew chiefs. Every NCO is expected to "be the leader of their battalion" (which is an ARMY term by the way, it's a flight in the air force) and keep their troops out of harm's way and to pass on their knowledge. It's total B.S. that CCs get credit for everything even though there's other shops that're out there a helova lot more than they are.

Hey, the crew chief are like the leader to their battalion and he has done the most difficult job which is saving his own soldiers and try to teach them how to live in a very bad condition too.

Noncommissioned Officers (NCO), the guys called "Sergeant", are the leaders and supposed to be the ones training the junior guys and passing knowledge down to them. In the Army crew chiefs are just general mechanics assigned to an aircraft, and stay out of the way if I had to do avionics, weapons, or electrical work. There was a little bit of cross training, but not much. I have no idea about the AF. Sounds like typical shop/platoon/section rivalry to me, which is common throughout aviation units in all the branches. As much as I dislike the way the Army does aircraft maintenance and training, it sounds like it may have a better class of crew chief than the chairforce.

That's the way it should be in the AF also, but the CCs in the AF are taught from day one that they rule the flight line and nothing would get done if they weren't there. It's comical sometimes to listen to them on the flight line. Bunch of trained monkeys. Now, I've met some really good CCs that know what they're doing and learn other specialties when they can, but most of them just walk around running their mouths about how cool they are because they're a CC and no airplanes would EVER fly unless they were there.

No, not really. I said what I had to say and won't respond to it anymore. Don't really feel like getting in another shop pissing match. It's prolly gone to far already.

I've dealt with those types before. They're arrogant and never really learn aircraft maintenance as they should. The only have skills in "shamming".
