2007 yes, but built in 2006. But with the new markings and paint job, don't you think it looks like it just rolled off the showroom? |

| Does anyone have any more photos of this bird? I have a buddy that does decals and Im wondering if he could make a sheet for me if I can get more photos of the tail and badges. Note the typical Edwards tailband along with some writing on the top of the verticals? Very cool but would love to see more. |

That logic doesn't make sense. FY serials are based on when they are ordered. Ordred FY 2006 or 2007 doesn't matter, it is normally not built prior to a FY number. I wonder if this aircraft was applied with a missmatched tail number. We've seen that once before on an F-16. |

It's still possible that 07-4132 should really be 06-4132. But there is a serial 07-4131. We have a photo of it showing the FY 07 tail code:
USAF F-22A block 30 from the 525th FS (no. 07-4131 & no. 06-4121) and the 7th FS (no. 05-4092) fly to the Nevada Test and Training Range during Red Flag on February 4th, 2010. |

Hi Jon.
If everything on the tail is accurate, it was manufactured in 2006; it isn't the year it was ordered.
Now I don't know if this particular jet is a "mismatched tail number" or not and it is interesting that 4131 is marked as "07" (which I didn't realize before) if "06" on 4132 is true. |

I can say with 100% confidence that the year designator of an aircraft is in fact the year the aircraft was put on contract. I was the program manager for the F-16 production line for the 1996-1998 models and did the initial legwork on the 99 buy.
FYI...Vipers built for the USAF (to include FMS) took 36 months from contract to delivery (plus or minus a bit depending on a lot of factors).
Guaranteed...take this to the bank. |

| Indeed, and if 07-4132 was built in 2006 then why was it's delivery date December 22, 2009? That would be three years from when first start to delivery. |

| It seems I made a mistake on that detail then. We have recent jets that were delivered a couple of years ago that is reflected on the tail. I'll ask around. |
