Speaking from the UK
I hate stuff like this. Those of us with (reasonable) knowledge are fully aware that the F-22 is FAR superior in areas that of course Eurofighter World have failed to mention.
All aspect LO being just one somewhat decisive advantage that no fighter is able to counter.
I love the Typhoon, it is, or at least has the potential to be a superb 4th Gen + Strike fighter (Budgets allowing of course).
As we say here in blighty 'It does exactly what it says on the tin' and that's all.
I just wish that this competative nonsense would stop, we are on the same team as Yesterday's (29th October) events showed.
Having said that though, I still like to dream, however unlikely, of a squadron of Raptors with RAF markings soaring over the white cliffs...***Sigh*** |

Eurofighter is very worried by the F-35 and is trying its best to convince potential F-35 customers to look at thier 4th gen jet instead.
It is an awful piece of marketing that smacks of sheer desperation and I don't think anyone will be fooled by it. |

I agree.. looks like something aimed at the CEO/Board of directors level of any potential buyer.. won't really convince the technical people who do actual evaluations.. unless of course they have an agenda and will use this as further "proof" in favor of the Typhoon II. |

Although I agree with a point or two made in that publication, they are wrong on every other when comparing to the F-22. It's a very tall order when you're trying to say you're very close or basically the same as the best there is. It reflects even worse when they’re not fully aware of the total capabilities of the F-22.
Well put together "sales brochure" to try and drum up business though.
(Let's see how long this thread remains on topic...) |

That's cool, Mr. Eurofighter. Tell you what, let's start at 100 miles, give you your prized Meteor missile, AESA, and even IRST, and see who wins |

| Wait, better not do that. You know after the DACT, the Typhoon's squadron CC might hold a press conference afterward and say something like "out of 6 BFM engagements, the F-22 only gunned the Typhoon once but the other 5 were draws...or maybe it was 2 wins for the F-22 and 4 draws, or...". |

I do wish they would stop making claims that she is as good as Raptor, it isn't. The should concentrate on the F-16, Rhino and Rafale.
Ahwell, being as I've heard there are massive problems with Meteor integration on Typhoon regarding radar and datalink compatibility; it will be a while before we see this missile ready to fight!
Just have to see how well she does at Red Flag Typhoon makes its first appearance at one in early 2011.

There are about 4 of them here now. Another red flag is getting ready to kick off, lines fillin up. Figured the Raptor folks are getting tired of blasting unsuspecting 15's and 16's out of the sky. Time for some fresh meat. |

Yeah its 17(R)Sqn on testing work, they sent two birds to Miramar airshow, which I was mildly surprised at. Travel 6000 miles and bump into a unit from my regular haunt!
The pilots were the ones that told me that either 3 or 11Sqn (not finalised) are coming over to officially take part in Red Flag in early 2011. 17 are on missile testing work (starting at China Lake and then moving to other bases) in the States for a few months.
Had to add a few photo's of them to the article I wrote on the show for UKAR for novelty factor! http://www.airshows.co.uk/reports/overs ... r-airshow/

| What exactly does a "Balanced Survivability Concept" mean? Can the pilot reach his own ankles in flight? |
