MY car cradle was designed for the iPhone 3G...when I upgraded to the 4 I learned that the phone is slightly narrow. Result is (1) there is some slop left-to-right and (2) in longer slides in the groove that keeps it from falling forward. Only thing holding it in is the plug at the bottom...I don't want to risk bending that or damaging the phone.

What I think will fix it is a thin piece of plastic that fits between the side of the phone and the inside of the cradle with a lip that will wrap around the front to hold the phone in place. I think plastic is best because with modeler's or crazy glue the bond would be permanent.

The gap on each side is about the same size as the thickness of my business card, but should probably be a bit less to prevent temperature swelling to jam the phone in place (I live in Vegas...heat-related swelling is not unheard of around here)

Wondering if anyone had any suggestions where I could find (or fabricate something) that would work. Really don't want to spend another $100 on an upgraded dock.

Thanks.

Evergreen strip plastic might suit the job, different shapes and profiles etc. . .
