| I might be taking this force management opportunity and going to the reserves or guard. I have 13 years avionics experience on the F-16. Anyone know anything about the reserve unit in Fort Worth? Any info or contacts would be appreciated. |

| Those would be block 52's with 229's. We didn't buy the block 60. |

The 301st is the sister unit of the 482d Fighter Wing, Homestead. They have a mix of big and small mouth Block 30s.
In its 2005 BRAC Recommendations, DoD recommended to realign Hill AFB. It would distribute nine of the 419th Fighter Wing F-16s to the 301st Fighter Wing. In 2007 the wing gained another eight aircraft from the 192d Fighter Wing of the Virginia Air National Guard bringing its total to 32 airplanes. |

Mb, make sure you run the ART route with the reserves, you will be ahead of the game, and buy your AD time back & apply towards your Fed. pension. Decide to move on, is a very slick & easy program to transfer. AGR program will soon go away and be replaced with the ART program due to its convenience and force structure augmenting AD folks with no obstacles by a state intervening....Same here, heard much positives about, believe you would be looking at WG-11...someone correct me here if I am wrong. Good luck to you |

| Thanks for the input. Sounds like the unit is a good place to work. I definitely don't know anything about the reserve programs. Ejectmaster I noticed your location is Italy. I have an assignment to Aviano so if I don't get out I will be heading that way. I think I am just ready for a new challenge and writing EPRs is not it. Plus my family is tired of moving. |

Mb, knowing what I know and going through the ropes as some have done here. Myself, Was ANG, then AD, back to Guard (After first AD rift and 10.5 yrs in & after WAPS promotion), attempted to get back into ANG shop F/T but was placed on "permanent" temporary technician status for 2 years, tired of run around and excuses, tranf. South to Tucson, but ANG pos. fell through, transferred into Reserves. Happily was with the former Depot base McClellan AFB...Made friends with a fellow F/T Depot tech who could not believe I was not in the Reserve Technician (Federal Position) program with my years of experience. Assisted me by getting me in their TAP assistance lab since they were closing, got records and updated resume in system to gain rating. Later tech school to chg. AFSC's, middle of school was then called for F/T ART position. Very easy system, super people (most), very easy to transfer to another unit if desired and position available and can quickly gain another pension by buying your active back and applying it to the federal system. With you, your background, and time in service, I would say to quickly get into the ART system and take advantage of all it has to offer. As I stated above, I have a very reliable source that is working on a major program to add more ARTs and phase out the Reserve (Believe was only Reserves) AGR program....Aviano, nice location, many good people, but sadly the system there will quickly tire you and I can almost guarantee you that you may kick yourself for not have had made the correct decision before arrival there...trust me. Sincerely desire my career will assist you in making the proper decision for you and your family. Best to you |

You have that backwards. The Air Force is getting rid of the ART’s and going AGR. Most of the SF guys already went Active.
I read a recent article from DOD Secretary Gates. Where they want to have 3 levels of personnel. Active Duty. Reservists on Active Duty. And Traditional Reservists.
With the Uniform issue still going on with the ART’s. And the F2F program going 6 months. With no more profile waivers allowed. Most of them old timers are jumping ship. The young guys then can go Active.
If you can go ART. Get in. Then transfer to DCMA or another program. |

haha you and I are thinking alike with your last comment. Have recently applied for DCMA and even had a call today.
Interesting what you had stated, will question again, came from a former CC O-6 who is now at the Pentagon working these details out.
Attempted to pm you few weeks ago, drop me an email when you have the opp. thx |
