Within 48hrs I get to sit in the backyard, consume a brew or two and wait for the first 4 supers pass over with a VARK escort and hopefully the omega contract refueller. Soz guys but down here in 'VARK' country...lol... (soz) seeing the little buggers that replace the hangover awakening VARKS is something I've been looking forward to since the inept government I have to live with ordered this waste of ....er this pillar of Australian air defence. Of course for me it's a tribute to this site and to it's long term professional members that what I am visualizing is not just a grey thing in the sky but a complex mix of componets, all working in tandem, all of which has to be Piloted, Maintained and repaired by professionals whom have a passion and more importantly a love of all things aviation.

Take some pics... that is if you can remember. Da brewskies have a way of making us all warm and fuzzy then forget why we're camping at a particular locale in the first place.

This is the great show we had last week, not my vid. but you get the picture. This is the last year of the Vark and as they have been a constant overhead for all of my life I'm sure gonna miss them. I was very impressed with the different wing sweep of the escorts. Oh and thats a Hawk taking some pics.

Hey all, here are a couple of new photos from RAAF of the Supers working up to IOC. With Varks and Rhinos up every day it's hard to get any work done!

Completely off topic, but as bad luck would have it I am working out of town atm(so I'm gonna miss them), but after a very quiet week last week I'm told by co-workers there are no less than six vipers on the flight line participating in excercises (In Aust atm)....So I was wondering if there is any information on the current or even planned deployment of U.S.A.F. aircraft(exercises only of course) or do we have to wait until the completion of the excercise?....(Only asking because this is the third time I've missed FINALLY seeing a viper in the air!)

I see enough F-16s up here, I would gladly trade you to see the F-111 one last time before you retire it.

I just had to have the day off sick...and finally!!! got to see what i was looking for. Five of the six block 52's (RSAF) one single seat and four family models. Start up, taxi and takeoff right in front of me. All appeared to be loaded for A2A. At full burner they seem to make the supers sound quiet. Varks launched later in the afternoon, considering the RAAF is winding down all things Vark it's a credit to all the ground crews to have them flying on an almost daily basis. Only 5mths left for the ole girls. |

I was painting at home when I heard those 5 new ones come over on Monday. They are surprisingly quiet when they are just cruising. I figured the refueling aircraft doesn't come all the way to amberley, it probably heads back to the US after refueling the fighters for their last leg.
