Pure hogwash. As usual, the French try and put the Rafael in the same category as the F22, which it is NOT. The one video from the American pilot clearly said the F22 was undefeated. That clearly conflicts with our French pals. The French have been leaking clip after clip about how great the Rafael did against the F22 which it is equal to The Rafail falls into the category of F15.18,16 etc. Its is NOT a 5th gen plane no matter how the French try and spin it and in a real life fight would not last 10 seconds against an F22 or F35. End of story and every nations defense dept out there knows it which is why they are all lining up to buy the F35, NOT the mighty Rafael!! geeeeeeeeeez
It boils down to who you believe. The French who are non stop tooting their horn about the Rafael or the F22 pilot who made one 30 second comment and not another word from any other nation on the subject? The best thing the Rafael has going for it is the F22 happens to he owned and operated by the one nation that can at will, make hamburger meat out of the Rafael and is a friend of the French. The Rafael is a dead end 4th gen a/c that in 10 years will be but a dot in aviation history, period.

So now the world is suppose to believe a Mirage had the upper hand against the F-22 in BFM at ATLAC which contradicts what 27th FS CC Lt. Col. Pilch said and never was mentioned until just recently by the French and the proof is represented by a patch?
Please. The spin is becoming pathetic. |

The goal of my post was to give the point of view of a french pilot on his blog and to report an information published in air & cosmos mags. You think that it's only lies , that it's pathetic ... and that only you have the [Link pending approval]
... so it is useless to discuss about the [Link pending approval] sorry for comming here.

I wonder why french use "resistance" to discribe the dogfight against F-22.
Maybe raptor can quickly get to rafale's six but rafale tried all its best to dodge raptor's gunshot? |

In this case, that means they found it much harder to get a kill on a Rafale than anticipated, thus contradicting or attenuating the supremacy claims attributed to the F-22. |

With a cannon that is. Of course considering that the Rafale never had the F-22 in its crosshairs, what does that tell you about how hard it is to kill a Raptor. |

I agree the Rafale is no F-22 however saying it falls into the category of the legacy teen series is an abuse of language at best, but more likely, a total missconception. The Mirage 2000 was it. The Rafale is newer and lets face it, better, so in principle the F-16 and 18 are old and outmatched airplanes by comparison . |

I disagree. The F16s/18s of today are just as new if not newer the the rafale. They can more then hold their own against anything out there, including the mighty Rafale. So many upgrades and improvements have been added to these planes you could literally name them different planes if you wanted to. But then congress in it's infinent wisdom would say that is a new plane so we are going to cancel it.

so in your logic then we could conclude we would never need any newer planes...f-35 for what? Can the F-18 and 16 good enough to hold on their own? |

Geeee, am I the only one old enough to remember the 'haloobaloo' after the Viet Nam War and the US air forces compiling a 2:1+ kill ratio. "Air parity" is just a situation where American will tolerate. It is very expensive in air crews and planes. |

| Yeah, the US is aiming for overwhelming dominance and this is specially true when it comes to air combat. The threat isn't only against increasingly capable fighter platforms but even more worrisomely advanced SAMs. Legacy jets could likely get the job done but at what price in terms of lost planes and aircrew? |

Very true and a point a lot of people don't seem to understand.
Our legacy aircraft can still get the job done, even in some of the worse case scenarios envisioned in the future. However, if we stick with those legacy aircrafts, expect them to work a lot harder to achieve the result(s) and expect a lot more losses.
In this day and age, constant news about attrition due to casualties is just as bad as losing. That's why we need and strive to be the best. |
