Under Increment 3.1, the Raptor is scheduled to receive an EA capability. By looking at the details, Increment 3.1 gives me the impression that it is geared toward improving the fighter's SEAD/DEAD capability(ie: SAR mapping, SDB integration). According to an article by Dave Majumdar(http://www.examiner.com/x-5411-Military-and-Civil-Aviation-Examiner~y2009m6d18-Sharpening-the-Raptors-talons), "The radar would focus its energy on a threat radar emitter, either jamming it, or potentially even physically damaging the enemy hardware". Now, I assume he referred this EA capability against ground based radars. And since ground based radars tend to be much more powerful than airborne radars fitted on fighters, is it logical to conclude that it can jam or even potentially inflict physical damages to the advanced Russian sets(PESA on the SU-35BM and the AESA intended for the PAK FA)?
