Cruising through the blogosphere the other day, I happened to come across something rather cool A movie is in the works called "War Birds" which is to feature some fine machinery - real life fire breathing warbirds
They've put together a trailer from their test footage which won't be in the final film and though it's not the greatest in the special effects department, I feel it's well worth watching.
The trailer is here: http://www.warbirdsmovie.com/
About the plot... Well, it's a bit far-fetched if you ask me.
hollywoodreporter.com wrote:
"Birds" follows an Air Force veteran-turned-reckless airshow re-enactment pilot as he gets pulled into the underground culture of illegal, real-life aerial combat. Shooting is scheduled for the summer in Michigan using all real airplanes and aerial sequences, including authentic P-51 Mustangs, P-38 Lightnings, F4U Corsairs and a B-17 Flying Fortress as well as modern military helicopters and jets.
Be that as it may, I'm willing to divert some precious cash ammunition procurement to go see this one in the theater - the plane Pr0n should be worth the price of admission even without a plot |

Sounds interesting!
If the special effects goes up in realism a bit it could be a good fiction film. |

| That looks COMPLETELY lame! I can't believe those owners would lend their hardware to such blither! Even the aerial fottage doesn't seem worth it, when you can get that at any DVD store. This looks worse than Operation Red Flag. |

Hey, they get paid to play with the toys, right ? Just think of all the people who'll come out to airshows after this hits the screens |

Can't judge the movie on the test shots alone- we will just have to wait and see...
love the Hetzer tank destroyer though. |

Having worked on a project like that before, you do give the moviemaker the benefit of the doubt at first, but after you see dailies, you can tell it'll be crap. Then you regret saying yes. And did you know that airshows are second only to baseball as the biggest spectator draw in the US? We don't need more people to come to airshows. |

Well, I don't have the experience in the movie industry, so I'd say you could be right there.
As far as the airshows go, I've noticed a huge cutback in funding at Nellis and a large withdrawal from the sponsors. The corporate chalet was one very small tent instead of the huge affair I've seen in years past, Red Bull didn't bring anything like their base of operations or their Grumman Albatross, and the whole show seems to have shrunk. Also, there weren't nearly as many people judging by the parking lots and the wait for buses compared to years past. I don't doubt that they're as big a draw as you say they are, but I don't think you can have too many people show up
But of course, I still want to see the plane Pr0n on screen |

| Well less participation is across the board for just about anything these days. It's just a sign of the times. I dunno I guess I'm just jaded about warbird footage when I can just drive out to Chino and see it any day I want to. But we won't have to worry about this moobie until 11. |

Yeah, I know what you mean. I've only been to Chino once, but you can bet I'll be going back |
