| What is the USAF going to do when it really needs to replace the EA-6B Prowlers? They are reaching their structural limits in its flying time. |

| I may be mistaken but I think only the navy operates the Prowlers as it is? The USAF haven´t had their own "Electronic warfare"-assets since the last Varks were retired so they have, and I suppose will continue to, call in the navy when they need that capability. |

I think that's more of the Navy's problem, and they're replacing the Prowlers with Growlers. The USAF and the USN have joint EW units (I believe at Whidbey Island). |

mmmhmmm. replace a platform that's modern technology with one that's at least four or five decades old?? Even with the loonies running the country now, I'm not sure they'd go with that.
On top of that, how many pilots in uniform without birds or stars on their shoulders even remember how to fly the Spark Vark? |

The Prowlers may be Navy-owned, but the USAF has had crews flyin' them since the late 90's. When the F-4Gs and Ravens were retired, the USAF and Navy integrated a selected number of former USAF AEW crews into several joint Prowler squadrons. These USAF crews even found themselves making carrier landings when deployed with the Navy. According to Wiki:
Quote:
About 125 Prowlers remain today, divided between twelve Navy, four Marine, and four joint Navy-Air Force "Expeditionary" squadrons.

| I have wondered since the EF-111B was being targeted for retirement, why the USAF did not decide to convert an F-15E to the EW role? |
