I get the idea that Obama doesn't care about our troops/airmen.

I get the idea that Obama doesn't care about the F-22.

I get the idea that Obama doesn't care about fighting terrorism.

I get the idea that Obama doesn't care about our national security.

I get the idea that Obama doesn't care about people's health.

I get the idea that Obama doesn't care about the economy.

I get the idea that Obama doesn't care about ending racism.

I get the idea that Obama doesn't care about employment.

I get the idea that Obama doesn't care about the environment.

I get the idea that Obama doesn't care about meeting our energy needs.

I get the idea that Obama doesn't care about energy independence.

I get the idea that Obama doesn't care about the collapsing banks.

I get the idea that Obama doesn't care about the collapsing dollar.

I get the idea that Obama doesn't care about our industry.

I get the idea that Obama doesn't care about the continuing foreclosures.

I get the idea that Obama doesn't care about the Constitution or Bill of Rights.

I get the idea that Obama doesn't care about our sovereignty.

I get the idea that Obama doesn't care about this country.

I get the idea that Obama doesn't care about God.

I get the idea from Obama's rhetorical posturing that the only thing that Obama really cares about is Obama.

Actions speak louder than words.

I'm sorry but that is a douche bag move, those aids should have been told to go F themselves. Maybe next time there is a violation of the airspace in the capitol area Langley should tell the White House it can't scramble anything because only F-22's are on alert. And so they are useless in today's environment.

That would make a point...if any F-22's were on alert in the first place.

WOW! This is unbelievable. As Popcorn said how petty. It kills me how anti-Raptor the White House is. It seems that no one up there seems to think of the F-22 is an asset. I’ve never argued the fact weather we “need” the F-22 because flat out we don’t. The fighters we currently field are good enough to do the job when they work. But I think we as the military aren’t looking for a fair fight. Their argument is that, well there is nothing flying today that can match an F-15. Maybe true. But is it a good Idea to design a replacement that mirrors the current generation? Our technology (and tactics etc) is what makes us the best Air Force in the world. Is it a good idea to build a fighter in today’s world dedicated to besting a SU-30MK series or what-have-you probly not. The F-22 is meant to provide air dominance for now and into the future. I don’t think the politicians grasp that 20-30 years from now concept. Ohh well. Bottom line is that moving the F-22 out of the hanger was a slap in the face. I’m not stationed at Elmo but it pisses me off that because Obama hates the idea of the F-22 airman had to do extra work so he could have his little dog and pony show just the way he wanted it to be. Not to mention the rent-a-crowd.

It's a real shame someone didn't just take one up to do a few dozen low altitude full-burner turns during his speech.

You know Obama or Gates will never let Raptors be deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan while in office, after making their specious arguments against it. The pettiness of this crowd shouldn't amaze me, but doesn't.

Heck, if China attacks Taiwan, they'd probably force us to fight without them.

Times change, it's as simple as that. The Cold War is over, guys. I can't imagine a situation in which China or India would ever consider doing something that start a war with Western powers. Sorry, Taiwan isn't worth the damage such a war would bring China, and they know it. Unlike the Soviet Union, they are economically tied to us, and would be hurt greatly by souring our relationship. When someone can tell me how the F-22 will deter terrorism or insurgency, I'll agree that Obama acted inappropriatly, until then I'm going to believe that it was an attempt to repair our nation's reputation. We no longer need to flaunt our prowess, get used to it.

Wow, I'm glad you "know" that we'll not have to fight anyone but terrorists or insurgents for the next 25 years. We can scrap the Minutemen, nuclear Boomers, most of the Navy, Abrams tanks, all sorts of expensive stuff we just "flaunt." I suppose you were really impressed by the argument against the Raptor that it had never been used in Iraq or Afghanistan.

Sheesh!

Anyway, this thread was about the pettiness of making them move the F-22 out of the photo op - not the need for more than 186.

Do you recommend we parade all of our military technology around the Capitol like the Soviets used to do around Red Square? I'm not arguing that we need to stop having a military edge, just that we no longer need to make everyone constantly aware of it, and we no longer need to over-do it. That makes us seem like an arrogant and stubborn nation that is stuck in the past and unwilling to solve problems though anything other than military pressure. I feel that all Obama was doing was attempting to mend that image of us, and showing off a Cold War remnant is a bad way to do that. The F-22 was designed to combat an enemy that no longer exists. Like I said previously, China is economically tied to us, and therefore would likely lose more than they would gain from souring our relationship. A full scale war isn't impossible, but it is unlikely, that's all.

Of course not.
