What happens when you run a missile launcher or missile interface check on the station in question with the -501 tester?

The video tests appear to require a service person in the cockpit to confirm the test pattern. The early versions appear to have all been black & white. I've not been able to locate the documentation on when the systems were upgraded to color displays. I believe it was part of the Mid Life [Link pending approval] but we've had difficulty obtaining these specifications from LM. Any suggestions?

What distinguished the 501 separate from the MBFI? The 501 specifications call for the AMUX & WMux bus tests separately in great detail. Was the MBFI a GD/LM product or did someone else build it? Does the MBFI test AMUX as well as WMUX bus subsystems? There was also a sister product of the [Link pending approval] called the 500 [Link pending approval] what was its purpose in life? Was it a subset of the 501 tester?

The MBFI is for troubleshooting mux problems, the -501 is the flightline tester for troubleshooting & testing weapon problems on aircraft. The -500 is the backshop tester for testing and troubleshooting AME equipment off aircraft..ie,.. racks, launchers, pylons..etc..

The Lockheed Rep is going to tell you to start shooting wires, even though I know you would rather yank out some of your teeth, this maybe your only option since you do not have a MBFI, and it could take you years to get one. One of the wires has a higher than normal resistance reading, you will need to find it.

Thanks ViperDude!

I appreciate you sharing. The 501 functional specification lists AMUX & WMUX testing which it must complete as well. Is the MBFI like a super-set of the 501 MUX testing? Would Lockheed have the specifications for the testing on the MBFI?
Thanks!

Edwin

Took a while to find it but T.O. 33D7-75-34-1 is the one I think you need for MBFI operation. The MBFI is just a computerized ohmmeter with all the proper cables to connect to various points of the MUX cabling. I seem to remember it being a creation of GD engineers at Ogden a decade or two ago.

If they don't have an MBFI, then they are probably not authorized to have the T.O. for it as well.
