Hello,
I am looking for any information about the AFETS program. I just applied and I wanted to see if anyone knew how long it typically takes to hear back from AFPC. Any other general info such as available positions for APG or where I can go to find out would be great. The job posting states multiple positions available at most of the bases but it doesnt say what type of rep they are looking to hire. I called AFPC but they dont have they dont have that info.
Thanks |

| I hope you know a Lead AFETS guy at ay base to guide you through the process, you should contact them right now. You need to be recomended by someone in the program. Are you looking for APG if so what airframe? F-16? |

| We are always looking for good solid folks to fill positions, the key is to get a recomendation from a Lead AFETS that knows how good you are, since its real hard to do one on one interviews in Civil Service. Just simply applying on the USA Jobs site will not get you hired. |

I suggest you start networking your old crew chief buddies and see if anyone can knock on their door for you. Getting hired with AFETS is all about who you know, and more importantly, who knows you. They advertise on USA Jobs because they are legally required to. None are hired outside of personal recommendations. The budget will definitly make things uncertain, as well as the planned down sizing of the F-16 fleet. I hope you have some good luck getting in, its getting pretty scary out there for us in defense. |

| you need to get to know someone in AFETS pretty well. I moved over to Predators/Reapers a year ago, have all of the training the factory can offer, field experience, etc; a bachelor's and 2 CCAF degrees. I didn't have a chance. Instead, the AFETS team hired two previous civil service employees that haven't worked on a plane in a very long time. No training, nothing; they just simply put, were already in the system and had the minimum quals. Its a tough process, keep your head down and like others here have said keep networking. |
