Hi all, I have a quick question, I am a weapons technician with the Arizona Air National Guard 162FW Tucson, looking to relocate. While on the usa jobs website i saw that there are ART weapons positions openings at maxwell-gunter? I checked the job description and its for a 6652 weapons troop. If im not mistaken isn't the reserve unit an airlift wing? or due they have fighter aircraft as well ? can some answer.
Thank You

I dont know I guess you do need a weapons troop for chaff/flare? On the job description it asks for weapons back shop and weapons flight line/maintenance experience.

The 187th flies out of the airport just south of Montgomery, not Maxwell. Dannelly Field is the ANG portion of the airport. I know a traditional loader there and considered moving there in 2006 but went to the SCANG instead. I also helped them with an ORE last August. Let me just say I am really glad I went to SC. Smile

When I was at Pope a few years back the weapons guys did that for the A-10s. I'd assume that they'd have weapons guys do the same for the C-130s.

That's because they also load munitions on A-10s. Doh

In my experience on the $h!t Haulin' side of the house, it's crew chiefs who load flares.

I just figured that if weapons guys did that for the A-10s they'd also have weapons guys do that for the C-130s. Didn't see how they did things on the heavy side of the house when I was there. Guess I was just assuming. And you know what happens when you assume... Laughing

Most airlift bases don't have any weapons loaders assigned. Of course, they do at places like Hurlburt and Cannon, but those aren't really "airlift" bases either... Wink

Seeing as I've actually watched my crew chief replace flares that we've punched off, I know it's crew dogs that do it...at least around The Moose, FRED, and Slick Hercs anyway.

However, have a HUNG flare, so to speak, and it is most definitely EOD who responds.
