I think you only picked up on part of the argument; you should watch the whole video and both segments.

Is the old “quantity versus quality”/technology/sophistication argument. Josef Stalin allegedly responded to America having more advanced technology/quality by saying; “quantity has a quality all of its own“.

So it’s an argument that has been going on for a long time. Whether it be the AK-47 vrs M-16, F-16 vrs F-15, JSF vrs F-22. Often it’s a matter of tactics and scenario as to which one is better; as they often are apples and oranges and all have their advantages depending on the conditions. So there are good arguments on both sides; but I feel in the some of it all it is not a very good argument because it depends on the scenario and conditions. At this time I still feel we need a heavy fighter and a light fighter.

How many F-22s and JSFs could have been bought with $700 billion? Correct that.

Make that $1.7 Trillion.

Truly a legend. Met him once when he visited the 421st at Hill. With a glass of Jack in hand he told a briefing room packed with truly humbled admirers who were awed by his presence (front row full of O-6s) "not to merge with these guys" talking about MIGs. I feel very lucky to have met a true maverick, great leader and gifted fighter pilot.
