I just joined the ANG, 144th Fw out of Fresno. I will be going to tech school soon. I am prior service and will be going as Sra. What is the school like. What is the housing like. Should I bring my car.

Thanks for any input!

Goin to Sheppard..Have fun..lol. Naww its not to bad since you'll be prior service. You'll be stayin prob at billiting so you won't have to deal with all the tech school stuff. Other then some of the ropes there thinkin there big and bad till they realize yer a SrA. But YES bring yer car!! If you've got any other particular questions feel free to email me at TheJesterXx@aol.com Granted its been a few years since i've been there and I wasn't prior. Got friends who were prior. Went to sheppard for my tech school

I have a work buddy who was prior, and can put you in contact with him if you would like. He can relate his knoweldge to you, granted it was a few years ago so things may have changed a little.

Thanks for the help. I have to commend you guys, I have been reading through this forum and it is very informitive. Some forum it is a lot of rambling, but I have been able to find some very valuable info on this sit. As for tech school, I was in the Army, so this for me is really a great opp. for me. I just did'nt know if you were treated like a pipelinner like in the army or if you really were just going to the school without all the other hassles that come with a tech school. My e-mail is bmcbbg@[Link pending approval] anybody with some info from their time in tech school will prove invaluable to me and is very appreciated.

Been in the 144th for a while. Trying to finish it out from a distance now. Good unit to be in. Stay focused during tech school, and learn as much as you can. Get as much signed off as you can. Lots of opportunities for sharp troops in that career field.
Good Luck.

I'd advise you to check on whether you can take your car or not. ANG liason at Sheppard can be a lot to be desired for. Had a recruit who drove there and they would NOT Evil or Very Mad authorize him to drive it to Luke AFB for F-16 follow-on training. Tech school at Sheppard better than what it was. My newer guys also enjoyed the training at Luke. Just stay focused and learn what they teach you. Check on the 30 days of seasoning training that you may be authorized when you return from Luke. Allows you to apply what you've learned. Speaking personally, I'd be putting you on a jet as soon as you arrived. Naturally with a trainer......... Very Happy

flcs, did you get my pm?
