We rely on single ordinance all the time.

We have one BVR, one WVR and one HARM missile.

corect me if i'm wrong, but didn't they field, at the same time, AIM-7 & AIM-120(F-15), AIM-7 & AIM-54(F-14) and AGM-45 & AGM-88(F-4 Wild Weasel)?

The AIM-54 was in a class by itself.

As for the rest, they were just using up the old stocks.

this is a trivial matter. point taken. you're right about the old stocks comment.

also, ELP's whole "mistake jet" argument goes out the window when you consider most of the jets through 2016 will be OT&E and Training jets.

and as a final note, Eglin AFB will have a large, dedicated, F-35 reprogramming facility to update the software as new blocks are deployed.

Interesting theory. More important is USMC IOC by 2012. With.... how much test to back it up?

As of 2012, 28 F-35Bs are planned to be produced. Less than half will be at Eglin AFB as part of the training wings.

I am assuming that most of other half will make up the OT&E wing that will make up the IOC wing.

The F-35Bs will be Blk 2 from the start, but will be upgraded to Blk 3 within a few years.

Please kill this plane...

...I almost with we could not physically see aircraft except performance record and specs and that their names were simply the letter number combination. Just F-22 or F-35 and respective data. The sharp angles and Hollywood code names really spawn A LOT of fanboys.

It's like the F-14 all over again. We get it, it looks cool, but what really makes the aircraft?
