Hello,
I want to know about main landing gear retraction kinematic. i understand the shock strut enlarge whit no weight while the f-16 is fliying. Next the actuator retracts and the structure began to rise and here is my problem: is the shock strut retract a little or maintain fix during retraction? how many enlarge the shock strut after take off considered to a ligth weigth aircraft. i want to simulate this. thanks |

| The Main strut extends during retraction due to there is no weight on the landing gear it and pivots during rectraction. works just like the shocks on your car when you put it on a lift. that is what takes decompress the WOW switch. |

The main strut does not extend during retraction. It is fully extended when no weight is on it. It does pivot some as the gear retracts, so that the wheel can lie flat against the fuselage when the gear is retracted. This is accomplished by the linkage between the bottom of the strut and the drag link.
The Navy A-4 nose gear has a link on it that compresses the strut as it retracts. When the gear is down the strut is too long to fit into the nose wheel well, so it must be compressed when retracted. |

the Main strut extends when it is put on jacks or take off. then they throw the handle and it works as advertised for the most parts any way. My wording error in my above post |

| At the wheel well in the main landing gear, is there another structural layer or reinforced curved plate between the inlet air and the tire when it´s retracted? |
