I concur - Bob McNamara was an 'assclown", he had zero respect from me then or now, I care not to think about my brothers who died (some in my arms) because he failed or refused to listen to the theather commands, those who actually had feet on the ground and knew what to do and how to do it but their hands were tied from this prick.

No, no loss of love from me with him, he should have passed decades ago, his open acceptance of his gross errors and decisions means jackshit to me or those who lost their lives because he failed to take advice and act upon it.

Rot you Fuker

To shadow what TC has already said, "Well said Meathook" i mean, dont candy coat it, tell us how u feel about the douchebag. ... kidding my friend, but well said! and I completely concur. The man was more of a politician than a soldier, he should have let the soldiers fight the fight and he could have played with himself as far as im concerned. He would have gotten more accomplished and perhaps we might have had a different outcome to the conflict.
As usual, just my Two Cents

Continuing.....

McNair is now a "hero, legend & warrior" with bad judgment.

Sanford, however, is still a loser with bad judgment & and a well-endowed Argentine ex-girlfriend who didn’t shoot him.

I’m missing something here.

Next up on the Departed Soul Train, former Junior Welterweight champ Arturo Gatti.

...and the hits just keep on coming.

Steve McNair wasn't a publicly elected official, and he didn't do his "communing with nature" by flying on taxpayer $$$.

People probably look the other way when they see all that Steve McNair has accomplished, and then given back to the community. Up here, they were running ads with Brett Favre and Steve McNair for Katrina relief--both had ties to the Mississippi area.

Point taken, up to the "look the other way".

I personally don't have a problem with this; boys will be boys. This isn't going to change.

But let's "look the other way" for everybody then.

Simplistically, selfless generosity is good, breaches of ethics are bad.

Does morality have a sliding scale?

True
Depending on whether or not McNair was going to turn the corner and go back to his wife and kids, that signals that he knew he was in the wrong, and tried to get out while he still could, to put it how TC put it she probably was a crazy b!tch that wasn't about to let her meal ticket go.

In my eyes, not really, good and bad CAN balance out, but ya gotta do a hell of a lot more than just sayin sorry.
In some eyes, plainly yes.

I can justify not sending McNair to the doghouse like this:
He did screw around, but by some accounts wanted to break it off and THAT's why he died.
In addition, he DID do much good off the gridiron, and even while he was screwing around, was still doing good community work--the suicide-prevention commercial he taped before he died.
As for other people: he played football, ergo, he's a legend that can do no wrong.

Putting Sanford IN:
As far as I know (I haven't followed the story that closely) Mark Sanford hasn't expressed regret, in fact, if I remember correctly he said the Argentine girl was his "soulmate". He sounds ready to walk away from his family, and leave the SC government holding the bag while he goes off to Buenos Aires for more "communing with nature"

This ^^ will lead back to this vv, I can tell

Michael Jackson: Apart from his criminal troubles, still ended up spending as much money as he could spend, not caring that he was spending himself into a hole with all his expensive toys and plastic surgeries. Yeah, sure he gave tons to charity, but in the end, who's gonna pay the half BILLION dollars of debt he racked up over a lifetime, oh AND don't forget, the friggin memorial service at the Staples Center that the LA/CA taxpayers are going to have to shell out for ON TOP of their already large debt. Bad money-handling led to drugs (an even worse decision) which led to his death. I don't really care if he's got access to tons of money, he should have sold it to get rid of the debt while he was alive. At least twenty of my friends and relatives have had to go sell stuff much more precious than that just to keep roofs over their heads, and to stay out of debt.

Other people don't see the mountain of debt, they can only hear "Billie Jean" or "Thriller," I see the debt, and am deaf to his music.

MJ in many ways symbolized the attitude that led to the recession, now that he's worm sh1t (oh, wait, plastic doesn't biodegrade, make that LEGOs!!! Very Happy ) the country may WAKE THE HELL UP and realize spending money like it's going out of style leads to EARLY DEATH!

I'm off my soapbox now, before I crush it.

Well, what can I say? This is the reason why we have Apples, Oranges, and Bananas. Some people really loved the guy. Some people think he was a bad guy. Then, there's those like me who were shocked to hear of his passing, but after that, it was over. I got up and went to work the next day, and lived my life no differently than I did the previous day. Now, it's about 3 weeks later, and I couldn't care less.

Someday, the public will get over this. Then again, it took Red Sox fans 18 years to get over Bill Buckner, so you never know...

A friend passed me along this e-mail. A little late, but certainly shows what I observed and why I was so angered by one person's 24-hr non-stop celebrity coverage of his death by the "mainstream media" compared to the others whom I respect more:

Quote:
A Short quiz.

Ed McMahon died this week. He was a great entertainer, but prior to his stage accomplishments he was a distinguished Marine Corps fighter pilot in WWII earning six Air Medals. He was discharged in 1946 and volunteered to fly again in the Korean War. He joined the CA Air National Guard and was later promoted to the rank of Brigadier General.

Farrah Fawcett died this week after a long career in Hollywood as an actress. After she was diagnosed with cancer, she became an activist for cancer treatment and devoted her last remaining years encouraging people to seek treatment. She documented her plight on film and used it to encourage others to stay positive and upbeat despite their diagnosis and suffering.

Karl Malden died this week after a long career in Hollywood as an actor. He also served in the US Air Force during WWII and also served on the US Postal Service committee to review and recommend commemorative stamps. In 2005, the US House of Representatives authorized the US Postal Service to rename a Los Angeles post office the Karl Malden Postal Station.

Michael Jackson died this week. He was perhaps one of the greatest singers of modern time. He will also be remembered for his eccentric lifestyle that included sleeping with a chimpanzee, living in a carnival-like atmosphere at Neverland, his fascination with Peter Pan, and his numerous masks and costumes. He also admitted to finding pleasure sleeping with young boys and paying out millions of dollars in settlements to the families of these boys despite being acquitted by a court on one allegation of sexual molestation.

QUESTION 1) - Which of the above did the House of Representatives declare a moment of silence for today?
(Hint - It wasn't the first three)

QUESTION 2) - Which of the above's family received a personal note of condolence from Mr. Obama?
(Hint - It wasn't the first three)

Need I say more??

Well, here's another big one that will likely be forgotten due to MJ. Walter Cronkite passed away today. This guy was the Babe Ruth of television news anchoring.

They broke the mold when they put Uncle Walter on the news. The most trusted man in America, he was often called. It's too bad that all they have on the news these days are a bunch of tabloid pushing, muck-raking, talking heads. All talk, no substance.

He will definitely be missed.
