Awesome! Glad he's coming home, and that's excellent he's receiving the medal. If he times it right, it might very well be a crew from my squadron that flies him out of country.

In The Moose, you might not get airliner comfort, but at least $h!t doesn't fall and hit you on the squash either. Feel bad for Billy's family, and co-stars. I like that Anthony Sullivan guy, but I don't think he can carry that tv show by himself. I think the real point of that show was to see the interaction between Billy and Anthony.

He was due to leave today but because of a lack of flights available, he is delayed until 9 July - if you see him, his name is Tracy Bell (Major)

That would be very cool if you met him or flew him out (what are the chances) ....thanks TC

Hmm...9 July, I don't think I'll be flying, but I'll definitely let my buddies know to look for him. It would be nice if he could get a flight direct to Ramstein or Spang, and not have to spend a night or two in Qatar or Kuwait. I'm quite certain that he's seen all he wants to see of the Mid East for awhile.

Well dammit, the hits just keep on coming. We now have to add Karl Malden to the list as well. He passed away today at the age of 97. Man, what an outstanding actor. I can't think of any movie of his that I've seen and didn't like. He won an Oscar for "A Streetcar Named Desire" and also later won an Emmy Award. He also co-starred in "Patton", and also starred with a then-unknown Michael Douglas in "The Streets of San Francisco". He was also the voice of American Express credit cards for several years..."Don't leave home without it!"

Another Hollywood legend AND fellow Airman (WWII vet) that will be missed...

Sorry guys, been away working on my college homework.

The first thing I'd just like to say is that in all the media sensationalization of MJ's death, I never ONCE heard that two US Servicemembers died overseas the same day. Sure he was an icon, but still, not ONE mention of people brave enough to lay down their lives to make sure he's free to do whatever he wants.

As for Billy Mays, never liked his pitches, they were over the top, and he kinda overdid it with all the hand gestures (my family talks with their hands but even we thought it was a little overboard), but after he died, Discovery did a marathon of PitchMen, his show with Anthony Sullivan, man, the guy knew his stuff marketing-wise. He redeemed himself, I went from "I'd never buy something from him" to "if its really a good product, I would buy it." He was an icon after all. And then I saw a thing on CNBC, and yeah, he's got a point with his "shout"--hey, he shoulda pitched THAT--Shout cleaner. He was the featured guest, but they didn't even put a screen up at the end with his picture.

The kinda weird thing about Mays's death, the plane he flew in on the day before he died, why didn't he take his private plane? You never know, that hit on the head he had might have done something like Natasha Richardson.

And don't forget Ed McMahon, he was a great guy. Shame he ended up going through all that junk with losing his house.

I'd heard of Karl Malden, but can't say I've seen anything of his work.

WTF is going on with celebs this week?

I don't know, but Steve McNair died yesterday of a gunshot wound:
http://www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/07/04/mcn ... index.html

It seems like a murder-suicide from what facts the article has, and since he just opened a restaurant last month, it doesn't track that he'd kill himself.

When you wind up with 6 GSWs to the body and then one to the head, that's typically not what you'd see in a suicide. I mean, I'm no Gil Grissom or anything, but usually if you're going to blow your head off, you do that with one shot.

Anyway, the gun was found near the woman.

Yeah, that many holes usually means some sort of a crime of passion. He mighta rejected her and she snapped, pumped him full of bullets, and then used the last one on herself. If she couldn't have him in this life, nobody could, and then she killed herself so they'd be together in heaven (forgetting that St. Peter's not that lenient with murderers)

By the way, I went to Medical School with Noah Wyle, the Police Academy with Jesse L. Martin, and Law School with Sam Waterston Very Happy Laughing Very Happy . And people say NBC's a bad network, their shows are so educational!!! (that also means I hardly have a life!!)

Yeah, either that, or she might've just been a crazy b!tch.

BTW, cop school for me was "Hill Street Blues". Med school? Yep. You guessed it, "St. Elsewhere".

Okay, that's vintage television, never even heard of that show--TGFW.

and like "Luke, I am your father" that particular line was never said in the show.

And yet ANOTHER famous (or infamous) death in the news, former SECDEF MacNamara passed away.

Methinks its time to rename this here topic to something a little more all-encompassing...Farrah and MJ ain't the only celebs that lined up at the Pearly Gates recently...

Oh, let's not BS. I don't think Bob McNamara's lined up at the pearly gates. I'm pretty sure he'll have to answer to someone a little further south of Heaven for our servicemen, whose deaths he was responsible for.

I'm pretty sure that there will be a line of Vets waiting to visit his grave, so's they can take a p*$$ on it. I won't blame them if and when they choose to do it either.

I'll end it there, before I start typing stuff that I shouldn't...

I get what you're saying, some other Vets on another board I frequent were saying similar. It was well before my time, I don't even think I was a year old when the Wall fell, but the stories I've heard are plenty to say that he was a total Charlie-Foxtrot.

but I said he'd be lined up, I didn't say he would get INSIDE the gates. I don't think there's an afterlife "witness protection program."

Yeah, hope they got a darn sturdy tombstone for him.
