| Rest in peace Michael Jackson. One of my favorite singers growing up. Despite his bad rep, one of the greatest entertainers in our lifetime. You will be missed. And not to overshadow Farrah Fawcett (although I'm sure it will in the media), a beautiful woman and an icon for many many of us boys growing up. May they rest in peace. |

RIP and God Bless … they both influenced me in my adolescence years.
We all knew about Farrahs cancer, but MJ? That’s a shocker! |

Such an unbelievable day. I knew Farrah was ill, and that was very disappointing, but to come home today to the news that Michael had died was an incredible shock. People will say what they will about him, but no one can deny his musical and dancing abilities. He was the Elvis of my generation, and the Thriller and Bad albums will continue to sell long after we're all gone.
As for Farrah, such a beautiful woman in her prime. If there had never been a Farrah, there likely would've never have been a Pamela Anderson. Her poster will continue to hang on walls for a long time. She was the epitome of the bombshell in her day.
RIP Farrah and Michael. We will miss you. |

Definitely a “back in the day” kind of day if that makes sense?
Last night I watched the Thriller in Manila on ESPN Classic with Frazier vs. Ali III (1975)
Brought back memories and now this … chilling! |

Yeah, today was a flood of 70s and 80s pop culture references.
It is bad, however, that not only did we lose both, we lost both on the same day. Unfortunately for Farrah, MJ was a much bigger global icon, so even in death, he out-did everyone else.
Several years from now, I'm pretty sure someone will say "Oh yeah, didn't someone else famous die on the same day as Michael Jackson?" |

I was kinda thinking he was heading on a rapid downward spiral. Losing his image because of that trial, then losing his house, then his health started deteriorating, sounds like Elvis all over again. When I got the email from CNN that he had went into cardiac arrest, I figured he wasn't going to live long.
The rumors about Jackson's death possibly being an OD are probably true too, if I remember correctly, they said the same thing about Anna Nicole Smith or Heath Ledger not ODing initially, but both did. MJ was on the bottom of the mountain looking up at where he used to be, and probably turned to drugs.
I don't really care if they were famous, if they're gonna waste their money on illegal drugs and/or abuse prescriptions, they've permanently lost any credit with me--I have a few family members I never speak to anymore because of drugs. I have the same views as John Kelly/John Clark when it comes to druggies.

That's probably what's going to happen.
Now Ms. Fawcett fought a brave fight against cancer, and sadly lost, she will be missed more by me, despite knowing less about her than about Michael Jackson. I regret to say I can't remember seeing any of her work. |

I work for a big movie studio here in LA and everyone was going nuts. I don't think work got done yesterday. Then to top it off, right after the MJ news, a rumor surfaced that Jeff Goldblum had died in an accident yesterday as well, but it looks like it was an online hoax and the guy is alive and kickin'. What with all the media outlets we have at our disposal these days, rumors can travel faster than we can comprehend.
I also forgot to mention, if it hasn't already been mentioned, the passing of Ed McMahon on Tuesday. Other than being another one of the television greats, McMahon was a decorated USMC fighter pilot during WWII. I believe he flew the F4U Corsair as an instructor pilot during the closing months of the war. He was then called back to action during the Korean War where he was a O-1E Bird Dog pilot flying recon and artillery spotting missions. RIP sir |

On Michael, I'll say that I've been to several countries in Africa, and people were no-kidding blasting MJ's music in store windows, wearing the single glove and were sporting their best take on a Jheri Curl that they could do. The locals there seemingly all wanted to know if we were Michael Jackson fans.
That's how much he meant to the entire world. If an African doesn't know anything else about America but for the fact that Michael Jackson came from the U.S. as well, then I'll say that he did his best to represent us whenever he went on world tours. His music had a message that meant a lot to a lot of people.
I know he was a very strange guy, but when he died, honestly, Michael the accused hardly crossed my mind. All I thought about was the image of MJ moonwalking across the stage to "Billie Jean" at the Motown 25 special, which I actually remember watching live. |

So true … an Icon for me in 70’s to 80’s then he started to get odd after that.
Hard to destroy two decades of memories and good times with his music no matter what he did or didn’t?
He got into Lisa Maries pants … that’s got to count for something!
All kidding aside, this was a shock for me … last time I felt like that when a public Icon died was when Princess Di was tragically killed and before that it was Ayrton Senna! |

I’m having a little trouble with this duplicity. Why is Sanford the bad guy for being up front and Jackson is worshipped for being secretive & manipulative?
Entertainment is entertainment.

| He lost his cred with me when he decided what a great thing it is to sleep with little boys. The outpouring over the death of a pediphile is quite sickening. I don't give a damn what you have done with a music career nothing will overshadow that, unless your famous of course, then all is forgotten and the world mourns your loss like you are some sort of god. Ed and Farrah went and no one cared, guess you have to molest kids or be a world class pos for hollywood to notice you anymore. That says alot. |

Oh geez...Mark Sanford. That was big headline #1 for me that day. That was actually the first big piece of news I had heard when I woke up that morning, and it was big news, especially here in South Carolina...Well, as we all know that big news lasted until about 5 PM. Sanford has pi$$ed off a lot of people here, and a majority of SC wants his head on a silver platter now.
As for MJ, like I said, I just try to block out his personal life, as I don't care for that portion of his life. For me, Michael was all about the music, and the stage performance. That's the Michael Jackson that I want to remember.
Sort of like how when I think of Pete Rose, I don't think of the man who gambled on baseball, I think of Pete diving head first into 3rd Base, and breaking Ty Cobb's Hits record. For me, Pete Rose will always be Charlie Hustle, not Charlie the Hustler.
If it came down to liking or disliking folks in Hollywood based on their personal lives, then I'd probably hate all celebrities. That's why I focus on the good things they've done, not for the type of human beings they are. |
