Hi all,
I have been looking all morning trying to find some maintenance info on the F110. I am curious as to how it compares to the F404 in terms of maintenance time. I spent 10 years working on the F404 (F18s) and I really like GE engines because the are so easy to work on.
The comparison I am trying to use is main engine bearing inspection. The F404 has 5 main bearings. To take the engine completely apart, inspect the bearings and then put it all back together would take about a week.
I am curious as to how many main bearings the F110 has and how long would it take to do the same maintenance procedure. I have never worked on the F110 so I don't even know how long it would take to break the engine down to modules.
Sorry if this seems like a crazy question. I am just an engine geek. |

The F110 has 5 main bearings also. I am sure it woud take about a week to do that but of course it can be done a little quicker. Of course this is coming from most of my buddies in the shop and of course from me never seeing one of those engines in the dock longer than a week unless it was a can motor. Hope this helps, but le me know if you have any more questions.
